I’m definitely ready for more interaction between our two main characters. The first episode was kind of slow so hopefully this one will make up for it.
Aom is awaken by the stewardess and immediately has a flashback of how badly she embarrassed herself. Other people would be mortified, but that is just not her… She quickly moves on and is impatiently waiting for a hotel representative. After waiting forever, she panicks and runs to the information counter. In a confusing mixture of English and Thai (her English, or more her lack of skills in English is so cute), she tries to explain to the customer representative that she is waiting for someone to pick her up.
She finally meets the hotel person who is here to get her. While Aom is enjoying her car ride to the hotel and admiring the Seoul view, Mike is sitting in the car focused on his phone. He sees her walking in the hotel, but it’s not clear if he recognizes her – either way he ignores her. I am actually surprised because I thought Pao didn’t reserve a hotel room for Aom, I guess out of guilt that’s the least he could do.
Mike is busy getting ready for his appointments while Aom explores the city. I love how their lifestyles are contrasted. She is so bubbly and simple. All she needs is her camera and a map of Seoul to enjoy her trip while Mike is surrounded by all the fanciness without being truly happy.
During his interviews, Mike impresses the reporters with his Korean skills. Reporter after reporter, he repeats the same speech in Korean: “I was so excited [about the trip/beginning of my career in Korea] that I couldn’t sleep.” The reporters all fall for it, but you can tell that Mike is getting more and more tired by the masquerade.
Aom meets the second male Guy and they share a moment of complicity. He stares at her while she is taking selfies. I can already tell that I am experiencing a serious second male lead syndrom. Guy is not as handsome as Mike but he looks nicer. The second time they meet, they strike a conversation – something not easy to do for Aom since it’s in English. When the conversation gets too complicated, she mutters in Thai: More than I learned in school. Guy’s smile tells that he understands Thai but he decides to keep teasing her. He starts speaking hyper fast, which gets our female lead even more confused. She concludes that he is hitting on her to which he responds that he is not – in Thai this time. At first she is so embarrassed that she is unable to speak but he breaks the ice and makes her comfortable.
They end up spending the afternoon together. He even takes her on quadricycle ride – the sweetest thing is that he even cancels a meeting because of the date (let’s just call it that for now).
After his interview, Mike goes to meet a friend, who is none other than Guy (Lakornland is so small). Guy asks him if he was asked the same questions over and over again during the interviews. Mike says yes and expresses his frustration. It also explains why Guy left the industry. Guy shares that he likes his new life and job better – so far no complaints. When Mike asks him about his love life, he confesses that he met this cute and funny girl (our girl already stole his heart!). They also talk about Min. Mike pretends not to be that interested in what she does lately (shameless lie!) but Guy is not fooled. He tells Mike that Min knows his feeling for her and that she is taking him for a fool.
Aom is eating street food when she is invited by a random guy to join her for a drink (oh Aom please no, you were hangover a few hours ago), She understimates that soju’s strength and ends up crawling (being drunk in her own words). Luckily she makes it back to the hotel.
Things start getting sour when the hotel wakes her up after the second night telling her that she needs to check out. Her booking was only for 2 nights, and not 5. She meets Guy while at the front desk and he confirms with the lady at the front desk that it was a 2 night reservation. He can’t really help her much and leaves as soon as Mike shows up.
In Thailand, Pao and Oom are trying to sell the house but apparently the buyer who was interested is out of the country so they’ll have to wait to seal the deal. Aom happens to call them when they are with the agent – major freak out on their side. To not alarm the agent, they pretend like it’s another prospective buyer.
Aom keeps trying to reach Oom without any success. I am surprised they haven’t thrown her out of the hotel yet. Seriously with a friend like Oom who needs enemies… Out of despair Aom follows Mike in his hotel suite…
Guy, Guy, and Guy again. He is so sweet and it’s sad to know that he will not get the girl (or maybe????). This is the first time I see Utt Uttsada in a lakorn. I seriously need to watch other shows with him. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
This episode in Korea and probably some part of the next one are full of touristic advertisement. It is everywhere!!!
And how sweet was it to hear Mike speak in English and Korean???!!!
