Autumn’s Concerto

AC

Ren Guang Xi (Vanness Wu) is the handsome and spoiled son of a prominent family. While pursing his studies in law, he meets Liang Mu Cheng (Ady An), a student and also a worker in the university’s cafeteria.

What started as a bet between him and his friends – getting a kiss from Mu Cheng – will have him develop genuine feelings for her. Both have in common family issues that have left them never truly feeling the warmth of love. Guang Xi’s father passed away when he was younger and since then he has been blaming his mother for his death.

Mu Cheng’s father also passed away when she was young – leaving her stepmother and herself with debts and no where to go. She is now leaving with her stepmother and her partner, who has less than honorable intention toward Mu Cheng.

Both main lead will learn to love again and stand for each other. The first challenge they will face is the attempt of rape on Mu Cheng with the culprit being none other than her stepmother’s partner. In a mini-trial held at the university, Guang Xi, who never had a true interest in law serves as Mu Cheng’s lawyer and he is able to prove that the defendant was in fact trying to rape her.

The other challenge they face is Guang Xi discovering that he has a tumor in his brain. To save him, Guang Xi’s mother asks Mu Cheng to live her son so that a medical team from the United States can save him – giving him a higher chance to survive. The medical team uses a new surgical method founded by He Yi Qian’s father, the second female lead, who also has feelings for Guang Xi.

Mu Cheng decides to leave Guang Xi behind and leave the city with her friend Hua Tuo Ye. She will later give birth to Guang Xi’s son Xiao Le.

A few years later, the two lovers will meet, but Guang Xi, who has lost his memory after the surgery, cannot remember her. Continue reading

Always (오직 그대만)

Always

Jang Cheol Min/Jang Marcelino (So Ji Sub) is a man who makes a living off small jobs. When he takes the position of a security guard he meets Ha Jung Hwa (Han Hyo Joo), a beautiful blind woman. She used to watched TV soap operas with the previous security guard and keeps the same habit although he is not there anymore.

Slowly they get to know each other and Cheol Min can’t help falling for her although they have little in common. Despite being blind, Jung Hwa remains jovial and optimistic. Cheol Min on the other hand is quiet, reserved, and sometimes cold. His cold behavior hides a sad past.

Both start dating, but things get complicated when Cheol Min’s past catches up with him; he finds out that he is in part responsible for Jung Hwa’s blindness. His only option: find a way to give her back her sight even if that means going back to his old ways…

Comments

I have watched this drama more than 5 times and it never gets boring. So Ji Sub portrays the reformed bad boy who finds a meaning in life thanks to love. The Cheol Min-Jung Hwa pairing is one of those unexpected one, and I think them falling for each other is possible because she is blind. Jung Hwa’s blindness pushes her to see things with her heart. If she was able to see, she might not have been attracted by Cheol Min. Appearances can be deceiving and in this case her handicap helps her meet true love.

The drama also made me think about the past we all wish to leave behind. I feel like everyone has something that they are not necessarily proud of. The thing is can we just leave those things in the past or will they catch up to us?

The one thing that got me sort of confused is the first date between Cheol Min and Jung Hwa. I didn’t quite understand why he got annoyed by her. He got angry out of the blue and no matter how many times I played that scene I couldn’t understand. Is it because she is a sloppy eater? I mean she is blind, it’s not like she was doing it on purpose… Was it because of her hair? Well that hair style sucked but that was a one time thing… Is it because he realizes that her handicap can be too much for him to handle? I hope that one day I will be able to fully understand the scene lol.

The ending is sad but in an unusual way. It’s not what I expected but it makes sense. A different ending would have been unrealistic or the fruit of bad writing.

Ugly Duckling Perfect Match Episode 7

Joo is still not accepting Seua’s feelings despite him trying so hard. Seua uses every trick possible to spend extra time with Joo. The best example is Seua staying over at Joo’s because of the rain. He makes himself comfortable, takes a shower and even spends the night over. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Push in the cute little PJ dress. So tight and so cute at the same time!

Divorce Lawyer in Love (이혼변호사는 연애중): Let the bickering begin

DLIL

Why?! Oh, why did it take me so much to watch this show?! Just finished 10 episodes in the span of two days.

Plot

Go Cheok Hee is a ruthless lawyer specializing in divorce cases. She lives to work and is always determined to win a case. Cheok Hee goes as far as creating evidences if needed and that’s exactly what will put her in trouble.

In order to help the celebrity Han Mi Ra obtain a divorce, Cheok Hee uses an illegal recording of Mi Ra’s husband cheating on her. The divorce is successfully completed, but Cheok Hee loses her lawyer license for malpractice. AngRY Cheok Hee thinks her office manager, So Jung Woo, sold her out. She goes ahead and vent her anger at the innocent Jung Woo and it’s the cherry on top of the cake when she dumps seaweed soup on him. Ooops, let me point out that it was Jung Woo’s birthday soup and the scene is caught by Jung Woo’s mother. Total humiliation. Of course, Jung Woo resigns. I wouldn’t stay either.

You think it couldn’t get worst for Cheok Hee? Well, it could and it does. Cheok Hee finds out that Mi Ra manipulated evidences. Mi Ra knew how fierce Cheok Hee was and no matter what she would obtain the evidence. Out of despair, Mi Ra’s husband kills himself, leaving a guilty and jobless Cheok Hee.

Fast forward three years later

Jung Woo is now Lawyer So and the manager of his office is no other than Cheok Hee. Things start on a sour note. Both hope that the other will quit. Too bad since both are convinced to stay by the law firm owner Bong Min Gyu.

Ugly Duckling Perfect Match Episode 6

Cute thing Seua does for Joo in this episode: He sets up a little camping area just for them. They both can gaze at the sky in the perfect setting.

Seua also deserves a high five for being so straight forward. He clearly doesn’t have time for nonsense. He clearly tells Joo: I like you. Her response annoyed me so much: She rejects him!!! Seriously why???! I can’t even. Deep down, the confession makes Joo happy but I still don’t understand why she rejects him, especially since we all know she likes him too. Well, actually I do. Having all the zits on her face made Joo lose her confidence. It’s almost like she feels she’s not pretty or good enough to be in a relationship. That’s my understanding of the situation. Part of me understands how she feels. To be in a relationship, it’s extremely important to feel comfortable with yourself first. But Seua and her are just too cute together!

Despite the rejection, Seua incessantly pursues Joo. I love it! Every little moment of the chase is adorable. If Joo wasn’t interested it would be extremely annoying, but we all know she is so it’s cool :-D.

Destined to Love You – Military Style / 偏偏喜欢你

偏偏喜歡你

When it comes to Chinese dramas, I tend to marathon them. Breaking away after watching 10 episodes, I am finally here to write about this hilarious sausagefest. Destined to Love You is set in the 1920’s era and takes place in a military academy. In the beginning, Bao Bao, our main character is circus entertainer by trade, but is trying to escape from loan sharks and save her ailing mother. She manages to slip onto a train heading to LongCheng and makes friends with a psychology professor, Xiao Han, a lady who is heading to the military academy to teach. She is also heading there to marry her first love and with whom she is in an arranged marriage with. Meanwhile Xiang Hao, wayward soldier who lived on the streets for about a year is being dragged back to the military academy that he had rebelled and quit from. He is a very skilled soldier, but a huge jokester and prankster. He takes nothing seriously except loyalty for his brothers in arms. Of course these Bao Bao and Xiang Hao cross hairs due to multiple understandings. Unfortunately on the train, several people are already trying to assassinate Xiang Hao and Xiao Han is accidentally thrown off the train and into the river beneath. Because Bao Bao is trying to save her mother, she decides to pretend to be Xiao Han in order to get military health benefits. Of course Xiao Han has not really died and seems to be still recovering.
