Roy Leh Sanae Rai (2015): Compare/Contrast

RLSR

The remake of Tik and Aom’s Roy Leh Sanae Rai is finally out! And oh yes, I am enjoying it. For those who aren’t familiar with the Tik-Aom version, let me give you a quick run down.

Kongpope gets back from abroad for his father’s funeral. Yes, another pra’ek that HAS to study in the U.S… Like it’s the only country in the world. Anyhow after the funeral TADADA it’s the opening of the will. Kong realizes that his father gave some of his wealth – 500 million baht (~ $15 million) – to a person called Namnueng. Who’s that?! Why is she receiving so much money?

Turns out that Kong’s father swindled his business partner – Neung’s father. Kong’s father and Neung’s father both fell for Neung’s mother, but she ultimately choose Neung’s dad, making Kong’s dad furious and vowing to take revenge. While one gets richer and richer, the other gets poorer and poorer. Did anyone notice that Kong’s father is played by Kawee’s father in Sawan Biang? It’s always the same actor causing trouble for everyone!  I wonder if he gets tired of always creating a mess in Lakorn Land…😅

Anyway, Kong doesn’t know the part about his dad cheating his partner and he doesn’t care.  All he cares about is to get his money back. He sets on a quest to seduce Nueng, have her marry him and combine their fortune.

Nueng is unaware of Kong’s plan. She is surprised to see the rich and handsome Kong showing interest for her. Despite warning from her mother, she starts falling for him.

Things are more complicated since Kong’s family business is a lounge called Harem with several of the female dancers wanting to gain Kong’s attention and money. If that isn’t enough, let’s throw in there Fah, a young hi-so that Kong’s Aunt Rattana wants to set up with her nephew…

Kong isn’t the only one in high demand. Neung’s friend Thor has hopes of getting with her. For the longest time ever, he had dreams of saving money and proposing to her. What’s up with all those people abhorring feelings for years and remaining silent?! Thor, please don’t act all surprised when Kong sweeps Neung off her feet. I won’t feel sad for you. You should have made a move a while ago.

The joke is actually on Kong because he starts falling for Neung, but he is so deep in his plans to trick her that he doesn’t notice his feelings until it’s too late.

The plot for both dramas is essentially the same. The 2015 production is just more up to date in terms of fashion, music, and directing.

Sanaeha Sunya Kaen: When is it too much?

Episodes 6 and 7 were so interesting and intense!

Kin is totally and completely crazy. His behavior doesn’t even make sense at ALL. He is being possessive, abusive, and completely irrational. The worst: Tawan doesn’t even understand Kin’s anger. I wish he would explain to her what’s going on. Compared to Sawan Biang, Kawee’s character made a lot more sense because there was sort of a “logical” reasoning behind his desire for revenge. Not that it made it right.

Kin’s desire for revenge is totally irrational. Ganok didn’t know how to drive period. She was the one being reckless in my opinion and putting other people’s life in danger. My theory: Ganok and Tawan might have been involved in two different accidents. I hope that my theory will become true, which will make Kin realize how stupid and cruel he was.

Kin-Tawan? No, Thank You!

This is the first lakorn that makes me truly wish that the main leads will not end up together. Kin might grovel later, but that will still not be enough. I don’t even see him falling in love with Tawan. So far, he hasn’t given Tawan the chance to show who she truly is since he is too busy abusing her. Plus Kin is so undeserving of Tawan’s love. I don’t know what he can do to deserve her forgiveness. I can’t stand when Kin abuses Tawan when she is sick – to the point that she faints. I can’t stand how he manipulates people around him to make them believe that he is nice.
